Hi, welcome to HospitaliTales!
I’m Shirley Heins, 32 years old and I am from the Netherlands. I currently live in London together with my husband Pedro.
I’m passionate about anything food and restaurant related and believe that hospitality runs in my blood. I have been taught the joy of cooking and delicious food from a young age with my father being a chef.
After finishing Hotelschool I worked in the mystery shopping field for a few years. I continued to develop my strong fascination for customer service there. However, I’ve spent most of my professional career to this day in hospitality. Places I’ve worked range from fine-dining to hotels to cafes.
Some of my favourite experiences include working on restaurant openings, weddings and judging for the 2016 Misset Horeca Terrace Top 100 competition.
Currently I work in contract catering in the heart of London, yet another branch in hospitality that I love exploring.
Cooking, baking and hosting dinners really put me into my zone. Somehow I never manage to follow a recipe, which usually works when I’m cooking but not always when I’m baking. My husband and I enjoy trying out new restaurants. As we live in London the options for dining out are endless, something that I love and hate at the same time!
In my blog I want to give you tips and personal views on (working in) the hospitality industry. I will also share restaurant experiences, favourite recipes and other bits and pieces on food and customer service.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
